Spiterstulen

Spiterstulen is situated 1111 meters above sea-level, by the old thoroughfare through Visdalen. Spiterstulen was established in 1844 as a mountain farm, and the first separate extension for tourists was built in 1874. Mountain guiding to Galdhøpiggen for a fee has also been conducted since the mid-1800s. The traditional character has been preserved with small and large houses gathered in courtyards.

About us

Spiterstulen lis situated 1111 meters above sea-level, by the old thoroughfare through Visdalen. In 1874, the mountain farm was expanded with guest rooms where travelers could stay overnight. Guided tours to Galdhøpiggen had also been offered for a fee since the early 1800s.

Visdalen

Spiterstulen is located in the heart of Jotunheimen, surrounded by rugged mountains and wild glaciers on all sides. Visdalen, with the river Visa, stretches all the way from the watershed at Visbreen, past Spiterstulen, and down to Bøverdalen near Røisheim.
