This makes it Norway&#8217;s highest mountain and also the highest point in Northern Europe, attracting thousands of mountain enthusiasts from both Norway and abroad every year. Surrounded by the enchanting alpine landscape of Jotunheimen National Park, Galdh\u00f8piggen offers a wide range of experiences &#8211; from idyllic hikes in the summer to challenging skiing adventures in the winter. For the adventurous souls aiming to reach Galdh\u00f8piggen&#8217;s summit, the goal offers a spectacular view of mountainous horizons and renowned peaks like Rondane and Sn\u00f8hetta.  <\/p>\n<p> The journey up often begins from Spiterstulen, offering a unique combination of physical challenge and memorable natural experiences accessible to a broad audience. The trip can also commence from Juvasshytta, but this involves crossing Styggebreen at the base of the mountain. This must be done in a rope team with a guide, meaning that this route requires both equipment and a guide.  <\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\tGaldh\u00f8piggen from Spiterstulen\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Spiterstulen Tourist Lodge, nestled idyllically in Visdalen, is an excellent starting point for the ascent to Galdh\u00f8piggen. From Spiterstulen, you can climb the mountain both with and without a guide, as it may not be necessary to cross a glacier. The trail provides a fantastic and varied nature experience, with the opportunity to climb three peaks over 2000 meters along the way. To take this hike, you need to cross the bridge near Spiterstulen and follow a clearly marked trail that veers slightly to the right after the bridge. The trail was renovated by Sherpas in 2010 due to high wear and tear, and it&#8217;s important to carefully follow the well-marked route for a safe ascent. After crossing an easily passable area, a short stretch of gravel awaits. Then, you embark on a nice and snowy ascent until you round Svellnose. <\/p>\n<p>    You then reach the base of Keilhaus topp, which must be climbed to reach the goal. It&#8217;s important not to lose heart when you reach this ascent. Here, you&#8217;ll experience a fantastic descent, and when you reach the top, you&#8217;ll also be able to see the peak of Galdh\u00f8piggen. After Keilhaus topp, the journey continues with a slight downhill section before facing the final ascent. Then, you finally find yourself at the top of Galdh\u00f8piggen, where you&#8217;re rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of Southern Norway. The journey traditionally starts from the courtyard at Spiterstulen. From there, you cross the bridge and head left, following the trail up to the edge of Svellnosbreen glacier. From here, the route is adapted based on the prevailing conditions and where you wish to go. Some may opt to traverse the glacier and follow the route via the glacier fall. Others may choose a shorter hike and follow the route through the formations.      Then you reach the flat glacier before reaching the base of Galdh\u00f8piggen. Here, most people choose to take a well-deserved break before making the final ascent to the summit, which involves about 400 meters of elevation gain in one hour.
